Project Brief:

OT (short for OverTime) is a live scoring and betting tracker app for sports junkies. The goal of this project was to incorporate both a live scoring track for real-time games along with in-app sports betting responsive media connected to your favorite betting app of choice.

Problem:

OT (OverTime) is a mobile application that offers an all-in-one experience for sports fans. It integrates real-time live scores and statistics with live sports betting, allowing users to track games and place bets within a single, intuitive platform. Don't miss a beat by adding your favorite teams and players with one click and customizable notifications. The product's core mission is to simplify sports-watching and live parlays, making it easy and accessible for both casual fans and bettors.

Context:

Target Users: Sports fans, especially those who enjoy making parlays on the go between multiple sportsbook apps.
User Needs: Users need an efficient way to track their favorite teams and make parlays without juggling through multiple different apps.
Constraints: Users feel annoyed when opening up multiple apps at once on their mobile phone.
Role: UX/UI Designer — responsible for research, user flows, visual design, and interaction design.

Process:

Research: Users need to save time to make parlays without missing an important moment, maximizing their potential earnings.
Competitive Analysis: Audited similar sportsbook and sports tracker apps (FanDuel, DraftKings, ESPN, Yahoo, theScore)
User Flow Mapping: Created simplified flows for onboarding, saving teams/players, and placing bets.
Wireframing: Sketched and prototyped screens (Home, Scores, Discover, Bets)
Visual Design: Developed a bold, minimal UI system with rich colors, consistent icons, and a seamless onboarding experience in Figma.

Proposal:

OverTime offers 4 prominent features; Live Tracker and News, In-App Bets, Favorite Teams/Players, and full statistics. Connect your account with your choice of sportsbook app and get live, updated betting odds. OverTime's goal is to make sports betting streamlined, while staying up-to-date with your favorite team, making being a sports fan easier and simpler every day.

Summary:

OT is a mobile app designed to put the sports fan in control with their favorite team. Leveraging live data and personalized features, it aims to save users time and maximize their potential earnings through centralizing all of their sportsbooks in one live tracker. Sports fans face renewed challenges: multiple sportsbooks, odds updating by the seconds, many live games, and more athletes missing time. Through user interviews, competitive analysis, and empathy tools like affinity diagrams and an Eisenhower Matrix, key user needs emerged:

OT provides a tailored sports tracking experience with four main features:

Live Tracker and News – stay updated in real-time with news around your favorite leagues and games.
Favorite Teams/Players – a favorites list to stay updated in real-time with your favorite teams and players.
Sportsbook of your choice – simplifies making real-time parlays through your choice of sportsbook in one scroll-down menu.
In-App Bets – make your own parlays on-the-go, efficiently through either OT's in-house sportsbook or your sportsbook of choice.
